Sustainability is not a modern marketing buzzword at Rosenborg — it is the very bedrock of our survival and our quality. The tea bush (Camellia sinensis) is a perennial crop that can flourish for over a century when tended with patience, scientific agroforestry, and deep ecological respect.
Across our highland partner estates, we have replaced harsh chemical interventions with regenerative agricultural methods. Indigenous shade trees, including Albizia and Grevillea, are strategically interplanted among tea terraces. These trees act as natural windbreakers, prevent erosion on steep mountain slopes, cycle deep soil nutrients, and provide sheltered micro-habitats for native highland birds and pollinators.
Water stewardship is another cornerstone of our ecological charter. Our partner estates sit at the source of Sri Lanka’s most critical river basins. By restoring native riparian vegetation buffers along mountain streams and employing rainwater harvesting tanks, we ensure that runoff remains crystal clear and free of agrochemical residues.
Most critically, sustainable tea is made by empowered human beings. We work hand in hand with estate communities to provide fair wages, clean healthcare access, safe housing, and educational scholarships for children. When plucking families are respected and nurtured, the love and pride they pour into handpicking the top two leaves and a bud is evident in every sip you enjoy.
